Amazon’s Kindle Colorsoft Just Got a Rare Price Cut — Here’s What You Need to Know
For the first time, Amazon is offering a discount on its newest color e-reader, the Kindle Colorsoft. Shoppers can now save up to $30 on the device, making it more affordable than ever.
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition debuted in late 2024 as Amazon’s first e-reader with a color display. However, many customers felt its initial $280 price was too high for the features offered.

Last month, a more affordable 16GB model was introduced at $250. Now, Amazon has knocked an additional $30 off, bringing the price down to $220. This limited-time discount requires no coupon — just add the device to your cart. The standard black-and-white Kindle from 2024 is also on sale.
A More Immersive Reading Experience for $220
The Kindle Colorsoft is designed primarily for reading digital books, but unlike traditional Kindles, it uses a color E Ink screen that adds visual appeal and emotional depth to your content.
Black-and-white text is classic and clean, but color has the power to evoke feeling — warm shades like red and orange can create excitement, while cooler tones promote calm. The Colorsoft leverages this psychology to make reading more vivid and engaging, almost like watching a movie.

It retains all the classic Kindle functions but displays full-color illustrations and text as they were meant to be seen. The 7-inch screen includes adjustable warm light, and the device offers a sharp 300 ppi resolution in monochrome mode and 150 ppi in color.
You can highlight text in various colors, customize font size and weight, and enjoy up to eight weeks of battery life on a single USB-C charge. Weighing just 7.6 ounces (215g) and measuring 5″ x 7″ with a slim profile, it’s also fully waterproof (IPX8 rated), making it pool- and bath-friendly.
With 16GB of storage, it holds thousands of eBooks — most of which are only 1–5 MB, even with images. It also supports Audible audiobooks via Bluetooth and comes free of ads.
Prefer Simplicity? Last Year’s Black-and-White Kindle Is on Sale Too
If color isn’t a priority, the 2024 base-model Kindle is also discounted. This version features a 6-inch 300 ppi glare-free display, darker blacks, faster page turns, and a front light that’s 25% brighter. It also includes Dark Mode and offers up to six weeks of battery life.

It comes with 16GB of storage but lacks waterproofing and color display. Still, it’s an excellent choice for readers who want a lightweight, no-fuss device. Originally priced at $110, it’s now available for just $90.
For most readers, unless you regularly read comics, magazines, or illustrated books, the monochrome Kindle offers better value. But if you want color and waterproofing, the Colorsoft — now at its lowest price — may be worth the upgrade.
