One UI 8 Stable Drops for Galaxy S25 in Korea on the Same Day as iOS 26

It looks like Apple isn’t the only one making headlines today. Samsung has officially started rolling out the stable version of One UI 8, based on Android 16, to Galaxy S25 users in South Korea—coinciding perfectly with the release of iOS 26.

The news came via a post on X from Tarun Vats (@tarunvats33), which included details like the build version (S938NKSU5BYI3 / S938NOKR5BYI3 / S938NKSU5BYI3) and screenshots of the update notification in Korean. The rollout, which began with the latest Z Fold and Flip 7, has now expanded to include the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra.

It shouldn’t be long before the update reaches users globally.

One UI 8 Is Here with Smarter Features

After months of testing and delays, One UI 8 is finally ready for prime time. The update brings a host of new capabilities, especially around Galaxy AI, with a download size of roughly 3.9GB. It also includes the September 1, 2025 security patch, along with potential updates to system apps.

Samsung promises a “more creative than ever” experience—which, let’s be honest, is what we expect from every new update. While the official changelog is fairly general, leaks and early teardowns have already revealed what’s new:

  • Galaxy Buds Integration: Unified controls compatible with both new and older Buds.
  • Redesigned Weather App: Improved visuals with more detailed forecasts.
  • Smarter Reminders & Calendar: Tasks sync more intuitively between apps.
  • Enhanced Secure Folder: Use separate fingerprints for added privacy.
  • Multitasking: New 90:10 split-screen ratio for better layout flexibility.
  • Simplified Quick Share: Cleaner interface that’s easier to navigate.
  • Upgraded AI Tools: Faster and smoother performance across features.
  • Easier Call Recording & File Management: Smoother access and operation.
  • Streamlined Camera Settings: Options are now easier to find.
  • Overall Refinements: Smoother animations, less lag, and improved stability.

The simultaneous launch with iOS 26 is likely no accident. Given Samsung’s history of playful rivalry with Apple, the timing feels intentional—even if it wasn’t originally planned.

Beta Winding Down as Stable Build Rolls Out

With the stable release now live, Samsung has shut down the One UI 8 beta program. Beta users will need to install the official stable update to receive future security patches and upgrades.

To download the update, go to:

Settings → Software Update → Download and Install.

The Galaxy S25 series is the first to receive the update, kicking off Samsung’s promised seven years of major OS upgrades. That means these devices should stay updated through 2032.

Although Samsung hasn’t published a full roadmap, the company has hinted at which devices are next. The Galaxy S24 series, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, S23 series, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and mid-range models like the A55 and A35 are expected to receive One UI 8 within the month.

Other devices reportedly in line for the update include the Galaxy S22 series, S21 FE, older foldables like the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, and newer A-series phones such as the A56 and A26. Even tablets like the Tab S10 and Tab S9 series are expected to join, alongside rugged models like the Tab Active 5 Pro.

Rumors also suggest that Samsung has already begun internal testing of One UI 8.5 on the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra (SM-S948U), proving that the software upgrade cycle is already looking ahead.
