Motorola Edge 70 Looks to Steal Samsung’s Shine
Another sleek, potentially pricey smartphone has us on the edge of our seats—but will it actually deliver?
One of Samsung’s biggest moves to stand out this year was the Galaxy S25 Edge. The brand hoped the phone would prove it could make a slim device feel powerful, ditching its long-time reputation for clunky flagship models. But 2025 third-quarter reports paint a bleak picture: sales forecasts for the S25 Edge are low, way below those of the S25 Plus.
That’s a huge reason Samsung ultimately decided not to drop the Plus model from its S-series lineup. And all this chaos has given Motorola the perfect opening. The brand—infamous for slow software updates—is gearing up to launch the Edge 70 on November 5.

Not as Thin as Samsung’s Edge, But Still Cool
The Motorola Edge 70 popped up briefly on a Polish retailer’s website recently, likely leaking its full specs and product photos ahead of the official release. GSMArena was the first to spot the listing, but it’s since been taken down.
While the Edge 70 is a touch bulkier than Samsung’s S25 Edge, it still holds its own—coming in at 160 x 75 x 6 millimeters, compared to the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 158.2 x 75.6 x 5.8 millimeters. Motorola’s phone is a little taller and thicker, while Samsung’s is slightly wider and flatter.

Under the hood, it has a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 1220 × 2712 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate—great for smooth scrolling and gaming. Powering it is a 4,800 mAh battery that supports 68W wired charging (so it’ll juice up fast) and up to 15W wireless charging. It’ll run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage—plenty for apps, photos, and videos.
Out of the box, it’ll come with Android 16, plus Motorola’s custom UI on top. For photos, it has 50-megapixel rear cameras with optical image stabilization (OIS)—so blurry shots should be a thing of the past. Impressively, the front camera is also 50MP, perfect for high-quality selfies. And for connectivity, it supports dual SIMs: one nano-SIM and one eSIM.

Edge 70 (or Maybe Edge X70 Air) Lands Next Month
Before the Edge 70 launches globally, it’s expected to debut first in China. But when it hits other markets, it might go by a different name—like Edge X70 Air or Edge 2026—depending on local branding rules.
Motorola already gave a sneak peek of the Edge 70 on its Weibo account with a promo image. The photo shows a side view of the phone in mint/sage green, highlighting its slim shape, visible buttons, and camera modules. There are orange accents around the cameras and the Moto AI button, which adds a fun pop of color.
Other rumored colors include Gadget Gray (a darker gray with a contrasting accent ring) and a Dark Green version with Lime Green details—so there’s likely something for different style tastes.

Pre-Launch Perks to Grab Now
Ahead of the release, Motorola has rolled out some fun perks on its official website. You can sign up to get weekly previews of the phone and its features—so you’ll be in the know before anyone else. If you join the interactive “unlock campaign,” you’ll also get access to an exclusive pre-launch offer worth over £700 (about $935).
You can redeem that offer during the official reveal at 3 PM CET, and it’s valid until November 19. Motorola hasn’t announced the Edge 70’s price yet, but we can use the Edge 60 as a reference—it sells for £380 (about $508). So the Edge 70 will probably land in the £500–£600 range, which works out to roughly $668–$802.
