Lucid Air Finally Rolls Out Android Auto Support in North America and Europe

Lucid Motors is stepping up its tech game with the latest Lucid OS update, bringing long-awaited Android Auto compatibility to its flagship Air sedan. For EV enthusiasts and tech-savvy drivers, this is a welcome upgrade—especially since the luxury electric vehicle has lacked this feature since its debut.

A Big Win for Lucid Air Owners

Electric vehicles are dominating the auto industry, and Lucid has made a name for itself with the sleek, high-performance Air. However, one major drawback has been the absence of Android Auto—a surprising omission for a car with a starting price of around $70,000. By comparison, even Tesla’s most affordable models offer broader smartphone integration.

Fortunately, Lucid OS 2.7.0 changes that. The over-the-air (OTA) update now enables Android Auto for Lucid Air owners in North America and Europe, addressing a key frustration for many buyers. The upcoming Lucid Gravity SUV will also receive Android Auto support, though the company has only confirmed it’s “coming soon.”

What You Need to Use Android Auto in the Lucid Air

Before connecting, make sure your setup meets these requirements:

| Requirement | Wired Android Auto | Wireless Android Auto |

|———————-|———————-|————————-|

| Minimum Android Version | Android 9.0 | Android 11.0 |

| Active Data Plan | Yes | Yes |

| Compatible USB Cable | Yes | No |

| Vehicle Wi-Fi | No | Yes (5 GHz) |

How to Install the Update

Lucid notifies drivers of available updates through:

  • The Lucid mobile app
  • A prompt on the cockpit display (when parked)
  • A notification badge on the Settings icon

Before updating, keep these precautions in mind:

✔ Ensure the battery is at least 20% charged

No one should be inside the car—doors will lock during installation

✔ Plan ahead—the update can take several hours, rendering the car undriveable

The process itself is simple: accept the update or schedule it overnight for minimal disruption.

The Bottom Line

This update makes the Lucid Air a more competitive option in the luxury EV market, finally catching up to rivals in smartphone integration. For current owners, it’s a significant quality-of-life improvement—and for potential buyers, one less reason to hesitate.
