Google’s Pixel Watch 4 Takes a Bold Risk with Premium Aerospace Design and Higher Price

Google has just unveiled the Pixel Watch 4, its most premium and ambitious smartwatch to date, now available for pre-order. Featuring an all-new aerospace-inspired design and cutting-edge technology, it also comes with Google’s highest price tag yet. The watch will be widely available starting October 9, 2025.

A New Level of Durability and Design

The Pixel Watch 4 introduces a striking domed Actua 360 display that curves seamlessly over the watch’s surface. This design isn’t just for looks—it also allows for 10% more active screen area and 16% thinner bezels. With a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, the display remains clear even in direct sunlight.

For the first time, the Pixel Watch comes in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm. The digital crown has been subtly enlarged and raised for better control and responsiveness. More importantly, the watch now features a serviceable design, meaning both the battery and display can be replaced—a first for the Pixel Watch lineup.

Built with aerospace-grade aluminum and custom Corning Gorilla Glass, the Watch 4 is both stronger and lighter than its predecessor. The 41mm model weighs just 31 grams, noticeably lighter than the previous 45mm model, which weighed 37 grams. While Google hasn’t released official strength ratings, the use of aerospace aluminum—most likely 6061 alloy—suggests an optimal balance of high strength, corrosion resistance, and lightweight durability.

AI-Powered Experiences

Under the hood, the Pixel Watch 4 is powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chipset, paired with a new machine learning co-processor that’s 25% faster and 50% more power-efficient. This hardware supports a suite of AI-driven features running on Gemini via Wear OS 6.

New capabilities include Raise to Talk, which lets users activate the assistant simply by lifting their wrist, and Smart Replies that offer contextual responses to messages. The Personal Health Coach uses Fitbit data to deliver tailored fitness, sleep, and wellness guidance. Additional intelligence comes through in features like Automatic Workout Detection, Smarter Sleep Tracking, and on-device language translation.

Improved Battery, Higher Price

Battery life sees a meaningful upgrade. The 41mm model now lasts up to 30 hours, while the 45mm version reaches 40 hours—both significantly longer than the Pixel Watch 3’s 24-hour runtime. A new Battery Saver mode can extend usage to 2–3 days, and the optional Quick Charge Dock delivers 50% power in just 15 minutes.

Other upgrades include 32GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, dual-frequency GPS, a skin temperature sensor, and optional satellite connectivity on LTE models. The watch is rated IP68 and can withstand water immersion up to 50 meters—though it’s not recommended for high-impact water sports.

All these enhancements come at a cost. The Pixel Watch 4 starts at $350 for the 41mm model—a $100 increase over the Watch 3—and rises to $400 for the 45mm version. It will be available in several colors including Iris, Lemongrass, Porcelain, Obsidian, and Moonstone.

The Pixel Watch 4 arrives on October 9, alongside the Pixel Buds 2a and the Pixel 10 series.
