One UI 8 Watch Beta Now Available for Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra Users

Samsung has officially launched the One UI 8 Watch beta, bringing its new Wear OS 6-based software to select Galaxy smartwatches. The update, which began rolling out on June 30, is currently available in South Korea and the U.S., keeping with Samsung’s earlier promise.
Which Watches Are Eligible?
The beta is starting with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, Samsung’s latest models. The company has confirmed that Galaxy Watch FE, Watch 6, Watch 6 Classic, and Watch 5 series will also receive the update in the future.

However, there’s still no word on whether the Galaxy Watch 4 will get the upgrade. Samsung initially left it out of the beta program, raising concerns that the 2021 model may miss out entirely.
What’s New in One UI 8 Watch?
The update introduces a smoother interface with fresh features like:
- Now Bar & Now Brief – Smart widgets, including AI-powered birthday reminders.
- Antioxidant Measurement – Uses the BioActive Sensor to check carotenoid levels in just five seconds, assessing oxidative stress.
- Bedtime Guidance – Tracks sleep patterns and suggests optimal rest windows.
- Running Coach – Provides personalized training plans based on a 12-minute fitness assessment.
- Vascular Load Tracking – Monitors blood vessel stress during sleep, offering insights into heart health.

How to Download the Beta
To install the update:
1. Open the Samsung Members app.
2. Navigate to Beta Program.
3. Select One UI 8 Watch 7 Beta or Ultra Beta.
4. Tap Join and follow the prompts.
Will the Galaxy Watch 4 Be Left Behind?
Samsung previously promised four years of major updates for the Watch 4, which launched in August 2021. That support window technically ends in August 2025.

However, the stable version of One UI 8 Watch (based on Wear OS 6) likely won’t arrive until after August 2025, meaning Samsung isn’t obligated to include the Watch 4. While disappointing, this timing gives the company a valid reason to exclude it.
For now, Watch 7 and Ultra users can enjoy these new features first, with more models joining soon. If you own an older device, keep an eye out for future announcements—but Watch 4 owners may need to temper their expectations.
